Q- Can rabbits and chickens be mixed together? We would like to give our rabbit some outdoor exercise, and since the area where the chickens are kept is well fenced, it seems an ideal area for the bunny too. Not sure, though, what the cockerel will do!  Might there be a worm risk to the rabbit?

Q- Can rabbits and chickens be mixed together? We would like to give our rabbit some outdoor exercise, and since the area where the chickens are kept is well fenced, it seems an ideal area for the bunny too. Not sure, though, what the cockerel will do!  Might there be a worm risk to the rabbit? A- By well-fenced you mean against predators, but nothing is well fenced if the rabbit decides to dig out! The chickens may bully the rabbit and the rabbit may bully the chickens, so mixing them is not really recommended. The intestinal parasites of the chicken will not cross to the rabbit. More exercise for the rabbit will certainly be beneficial as most pet bunnies do not get enough exercise and have health problems related to this, so try and find another area for your rabbit to exercise.
