Country Smallholders website, social channels and magazine will provide free vet advice; helpful practical features on all aspects of smallholding, from keeping chickens to crop rotation; information on poultry, pigs, sheep, goats, cattle, and alpacas; rural crafts; property; small tractors and machinery, as well as keeping readers up to date with all the latest news and innovations.

Meet the Team
Editor – Liz Wright
Liz previously was the editor of The Smallholder (launched in 1910) and has been at the heart of the smallholding community for over 30 years living on a smallholding in the Fens. Liz has met smallholders in Africa and Europe as part of the Guild of Agricultural Journalists and has written fourteen books including 4 books on self-sufficiency.

Rhiane has an impressive 17 years of experience working with the agricultural industry. Her expertise lies in assisting machinery dealers, manufacturers, and services to optimise their marketing efforts. David Parsons, MRCVS.
David has spent most of his working life with poultry and is deeply interested in the future of poultry medicine. He is an expert on avian flu and provides practical information on its importance in both the UK and the world. He is currently a veterinary consultant, has written many professional papers and also lectures at Bristol University.
Grant Brereton
Grant is a breeder of pure-bred poultry with a particular interest in genetics. He edited ‘Fancy Fowl’ for many years and is well known in the poultry world. He has written a number of books including the unique ‘Broody Hen Handbook’
The British Hen Welfare Trust
Founded by Jane Howorth, MBE, The British Hen Welfare Trust are regular contributors providing expertise in the care of rehabilitated laying hens and reporting on hen welfare worldwide.
Joy Whitehead
Joy has been breeding and showing alpacas since 1989 with niece Mary-Jo Smith, a BAS certified judge, joining her in 2000. They farm around 350 Huacayas and suris from prizewinning pedigree bloodlines
