The international charity World Horse Welfare is encouraging people to help horses in their wills
World Horse Welfare is an international charity which has been improving the welfare of horses in the UK and overseas through education, campaigning and hands-on care since 1927.
“Our four UK Rescue and Rehoming Centres are filled with horses and ponies at all stages of their rehabilitation and we are faced with more urgent cases of suffering every day,” said the charity. “In the dedicated care of our teams, horses and ponies are nurtured back to health and then found loving new homes through our rehoming scheme which is the largest of its kind in the UK.
“Our international programmes across 13 countries help working horses in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Campaigning is central to our work in achieving long-term solutions for horse welfare.
Better system
“We are also at the forefront of pressing government for a better system of equine ID and traceability, disease prevention, tougher laws on fly-grazing and better enforcement of the laws in place to protect horses. Our ultimate goal is to achieve sustainable welfare improvements that will have the greatest possible impact on the greatest number of horses in the UK and Europe.
“Your gift could allow more horses like Mrs Potts and Jodi (pictured) to recover from neglect and live a life worth living, relieve the pain of working horses who sustain impoverished families and give horses an even louder voice in our campaigns for laws to protect them. Gifts in wills can help us to do all this.”
