On 3 December 2024, Cultivate Success invites farmers, agricultural professionals, and food producers to join together in York for a ‘transformative’ event designed to build a mentoring community that spans the entire food and farming ecosystem.
Cultivate Success is about more than networking – it’s about enabling people to make confident, informed decisions for themselves and their wider networks. By fostering connections between diverse voices, experiences, and sectors, it helps people to not only navigate today’s challenges but also build a future where collaboration is key to success.
The idea was born out of Helen Wyman’s Nuffield Scholarship, where she explored mentoring around the world. She is passionate about bringing mentoring and its benefits to the agricultural community, and so founded Cultivate Success. “Mentoring is a cornerstone of effective leadership development,” she says. “Commonplace in the corporate business world, it could have significant impact in the agricultural world.”
Why attend?
This event is designed to create meaningful relationships that go beyond the day itself. The unique six-month mentoring programme, supported by advanced matching software, ensures that each participant is paired with the right mentor or mentee to maximise personal and professional growth. Mentorship is an invaluable tool for learning and leadership, providing both practical advice and the confidence to make decisions that matter.
Why become a mentor or mentee?
- For mentees: This is an opportunity to gain the insights, support, and confidence needed to make critical decisions in your career and beyond. Through the tailored six-month mentoring programme, you’ll receive personalised guidance that helps you grow, take action, and influence your network positively.
- For mentors: As a mentor, it will be the chance to give back to the industry, sharing your expertise and helping shape the next generation of agricultural leaders. By offering your knowledge and experience, you’ll not only support others but also gain fresh perspectives that can enhance your own work.
What to expect from the programme:
- Interactive sessions focused on the skills required for an effective mentoring relationship that are easily transferable into day-to-day life.
- One-on-one mentoring for six months to help continue development past the training day. Both mentors and mentees are supported through this programme with a dedicated client manager, Sarah Evans.
- A welcoming and inclusive environment that brings together voices from every corner of the food and farming industry, promoting diversity and encouraging fresh perspectives.
Why this event matters:
As agriculture faces critical issues – from climate change to evolving market demands -the need for collaboration and confidence is paramount. Cultivate Success is building a community where individuals can learn from each other, break down silos, and drive real change, says Helen. “This is where the future of agriculture begins – by coming together to create the connections that matter.”
