Are you getting the full potential from your grass? This year’s Royal Welsh Grassland and Alternative Energy Event will take place on Thursday June 5 at Llanbadarn Fynydd, Llandrindod Wells, Powys.

With over 100 acres of working demonstrations, up to 200 machines on display and 60 plus stands with information and equipment for the livestock and grassland farmer, all is set for a great Royal Welsh Grassland and Alternative Energy Show.

Fellow farmer and chairman of the organising committee, Martyn Price, is looking forward to the event: “As part of our feature year, Radnorshire is proud to be hosting the Royal Welsh Grassland and Alternative Energy Event in a couple of week’s time.”

“It is with thanks to the hardworking group of volunteers and the support of the machinery manufactures and other suppliers that we have managed to organise such a large and promising event. We are all looking forward to welcoming farmers and contractors from far and wide.” continued Mr Price.

Rising cost throughout the industry is making all farmers scrutinise their systems. Being able to effectively manage your grass to increase productivity and cut down on food costs will play a major part in the farming of the future.

At the Royal Welsh Grassland and Alternative Energy Event farmers will be able to see examples of different grass leys and grass management techniques, demonstrations from new machinery, get information on silage and hay making methods including additives and inoculants and have access to scientific research, all in a bid to help increase production and improve profitability.

Around 60 artic lorries will be arriving on site from as early as next week to off load the 200 pieces of machinery that will be at the event on display and taking part in the working demonstrations.

Amongst the demonstrations you will be able to see the latest generation of self-propelled forage harvesters from New Holland Agriculture, the new Vredo DZ Agri Air overseeder from JC Machinery, a range of hay and forage equipment from Krone UK Ltd and the Fusion3 new integrated bale wrapper from McHale. There will also be other demos from Rea Valley Tractors, RVW Pugh, Teme Valley Tractors and Western Farm Services.

Although primarily a grassland event, the day will also focus on alternative energy and the opportunities available for the traditional livestock and grassland farmer.

During your visit to the event you will be able to speak with representatives from leading alternative energy companies, including Bowler Energy, RES Ltd, Freedom Green Energy and Westflight Energy. Why not take the opportunity to explore the ways in which your land and business could benefit from renewable energy technology. Whether it is wind turbines, PV solar panels, anaerobic digesters there could be a system out there that not only reduces your energy bills, but provides you with an income at the same time.
