The current slowdown in the economy, soaring fuel costs and declining housing market will have a greater impact in rural Wales than other parts of Britain, warns the Legal Services Comission (LSC). The average rural Welsh household spends £60 more per week on basic essentials than its urban counterpart. Both Gross Value Added (GVA) per head and disposable income are below the UK average, with GVA per head at 78 per cent of the UK average and earnings at 90 per cent of the average, says the LSC.
