Trials of genetically modified crops should be conducted within a national high-security facility or in fields at secret locations across the country to prevent them from being destroyed by anti-GM activists according to a leading paper

Researchers spoke out after one of only two GM trials was attacked and crops ripped up. Scientists claim that the repeated attacks are holding vital research back on whether GM crops can reduce the cost and environmental impact of farming. Since 2000 54 GM crop trials have been attacked.
