JAN 31, 2013: The 2013 Scottish Smallholder and Grower Festival will move to a new venue in central Scotland.

Following the success of the inaugural event at Forfar, the 2013 Festival moves to Lanark Agricultural Centre, a popular and attractive venue around 30 miles from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. It will take place on Saturday September 28. Rosemary Champion, who looks after the livestock show, said: “The first event was such an overwhelming success that we’ve set the bar pretty high – but the whole team is committed to making the 2013 Festival even better than last year.” With show classes for sheep, goats, pigs, poultry and waterfowl, the breed societies avenue and a range of informative seminars and demonstrations, there’s plenty for the livestock keeper. The expanded Garden, Craft and Kitchen Fair will include more for growers plus crafts to buy and try, delicious local food to take home and a whole range of exhibits in the competitive classes. If you like growing and creating – there will be an opportunity for you to display your wares. Schedules for the competitive classes will be available from the Festival’s website www.scottishsmallholdershow.org.uk from April 1 and online ticket sales will open on the same day. You can sign up for regular newsletters via the website and follow festival news on Facebook.
