AUGUST 30, 2008: The organic egg sector is being hit by the economic squeeze, according to reports from within the industry.

Organic Farmers and Growers chief executive, Richard Jacobs, was quoted as saying producers are now “feeling the pain”.

He said some people move outof organic production, while a few others are reducing their exposureby taking some flocks out of organic status.

Geoff Cooper sales and contract producer director at Noble Foods was quoted as saying: “The market is currently going through a difficult time there does appear to be a link to the credit crunch making the consumer feel poorer.”
