The Norfolk Smallholders Show & Market is the county’s only event dedicated to smallholding and producing your own food.
The show, at Sheringham Park on Sunday 1 August from 10am – 4pm, aims to provide a smallholding showcase to encourage more people to take up the Good Life. Attractions will include rare breed animals and poultry, an owl display, sheep shearing and demonstrations of rural crafts.Events in the show ring will include a livestock parade, ferret display and a dog show.The Smallholders’ Question Time returns, following its resounding success in previous years, giving you the opportunity to quiz a panel of experts on anything to do with rearing animals or growing food.Visitors will also be able to stock up on delicious locally produced meat, fruit, vegetables, eggs, preserves and cakes, as well as plants and smallholding equipment at a range of stalls run by local smallholders and small-scale producers.”Our aim for the show is for families to have a great day out while learning how much fun it is to produce your own food,” says Kim Rushford, a smallholder from Ellingham and member of the Norfolk Smallholders Training Group (NSTG), which is organising the show. “We are keen to share our experiences with others and hope the show will inspire other people to produce their own food.”The Norfolk Smallholders Show is on Sunday, 1 August 2010, 10am-4pm.
