Two thousand people flocked to Sheringham Park in Norfolk for a special event dedicated to smallholding.Visitors to the second Norfolk Smallholders Show and Market had the opportunity to learn about producing their own food at home via displays and demonstrations, as well as meeting a colourful range of livestock including piglets, sheep, goats and alpacas.Many took the opportunity to pick the brains of a panel of experienced smallholders in ‘Smallholders Question Time’. Expertise on the panel covered all kinds of livestock husbandry as well as fruit and vegetable production.A multitude of stalls run by smallholders and other local small businesses offered a mouth-watering range of food including wild boar meat and pork from ‘Iron Age’ pigs as well as fresh fruit and vegetables, plants and locally made ice-cream, cakes, jams and chutneys.A display of more than 20 breeds of chickens and ducks was particularly popular.
