The Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) reports that further cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1, otherwise known as bird flu, have been confirmed in captive and commercial poultry across Norfolk.
The latest affected premises are located at: Cranworth, Mid Norfolk; Gayton, Kings Lynn and West Norfolk; Attleborough, Breckland, Norfolk (two premises now affected) and Watton, Mid Norfolk (three premises now affected).
Following a risk assessment, a 3km Captive Bird (Monitoring) Controlled Zone (CBMCZ) has been put in place. The affected birds on the infected premises will be humanely culled.
The APHA advises all bird keepers to remain vigilant & follow stringent biosecurity measures to prevent future outbreaks. More info, including the restrictions in the Zone is available on GOV.UK.
Definitive requirements are set out in the published declarations for each disease control zone currently in force. More information is available on GOV.UK.
