Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 (bird flu) has been confirmed at a premises near Gayton, King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, Norfolk.

The Avian Influenza Prevention Zone has been lifted, but all bird keepers should remain vigilant and still follow enhanced biosecurity measures to prevent future outbreaks.

The UK Government sates that: ‘All bird keepers (whether you have pet birds, commercial flocks or just a few birds in a backyard flock) must keep a close watch on them for signs of disease and maintain good biosecurity at all times. If you have any concerns about the health of your birds, seek prompt advice from your vet.’
