Bert the Light Sussex cockerel likes to get around – even it means hitching a ride on Harvey the horse.

Bert and Harvey are mates on a small council farm at Winchester in Hampshire. Your Chickens reader Charlotte Webb, who works on the farm, sent us this fun photo.

“Bert is incredibly tame for some reason,” said Charlotte. “Harvey and Herbie are both Shires, and, along with the pigs, sheep and other chickens, they all just ‘get on’.

“Although Harvey’s main profession is wagon rides, shows and promotional work, he does some farm work when we get chance, such as ploughing and harrowing.”
