The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) reports that bluetongue virus BTV-3 has been confirmed in a single sheep near Faversham, Kent.

In response, a 20km Temporary Control Zone (TCZ) has been put in place.

The APHA says that keepers of cattle, sheep, camelids and other ruminants ‘must remain vigilant and follow the restrictions on animal and germinal product movements that apply’.

You can check the Bluetongue interactive map and GOV.UK to see the latest situation and what steps you must take to prevent and control the disease.

Definitive requirements are set out in the published declarations for each disease control zone currently in force. More information is available on GOV.UK.

Surveillance is ongoing.
